Making a Vege Cake

 We are using Science and Maths as we explore how to make a Vege Cake. We investigated the Science behind cake making - why cakes rise, how we can make a cake rise, and the Science behind each of the ingredients and what it brings to the cake.






Once we have made our test cakes we will be investigating alternatives for the main ingredients in cakes. We are learning to substitute in vegetables to add taste, colour and texture. We are also exploring ways to lower the sugar content in cakes.

Bridge Valley Camp 2021 - Day One

The sun was shining as we arrived at Bridge Valley for Day One of our adventure. We started the day with a Top Team type activity. A bit of healthy competition to start off the fun! The girls beat the boys in our ultimate Tug of War competition! We had a go at our first rotation after lunch - Rock Climbing, Archery, Shooting and Laser Tag.         The afternoon was full of water fun as we took to the Hydroslide and had a splash about in the pool.  The children wanted Grant to know exactly how wet the pool was! A big thank you to Fleur for being our Camp Mum for the day! The evening came around rather quickly, and after a few games in the field we had some fun inside before Hot Choccies and off to bed.

Cooking Competition - stage 3 - The Dinner Menu

 Things are heating up in the kitchen as our cooks enter into stage 3 with recipes for a dinner. The children have one hour to create their dinner masterpieces. They are judged on taste, presentation, cleanliness of kitchen and then given an overall score. It is a very difficult job for the judges as the cooks have to up their skill and flavour levels for this round. mmmmm, Thai Green curry on display today. It smelt delicious simmering in the kitchen. I think the teachers stole the leftover sauce that accompanied this kitchen sensation. Cheers Team! Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far. Isaiah and Emma - enchiladas - these smelt amazing as they cooked away in the kitchen.
